Description
Day 1: Arrival in Osh — Transfer to Achik-Tash Base Camp (3600 m)
Upon arrival in Osh, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the Achik-Tash Base Camp. The journey will take you through the picturesque Alay Valley, a dramatic landscape where snow-capped peaks rise above lush green pastures and remote mountain villages. Upon arrival at the base camp, the camp manager or administrator will welcome you, assist with your accommodation, and provide you with all the necessary information. You will also meet your mountain guides, who will go over the detailed climbing plan and safety procedures for the expedition.
Day 2: Acclimatization at Base Camp — Waterfall Hike
After breakfast, you will set out on an acclimatization hike to a nearby waterfall. This walk will help your body adjust to the altitude, allowing you to better appreciate the stark beauty of the Alay Range, where wildflowers bloom against a backdrop of towering granite cliffs. Return to base camp for lunch, followed by an afternoon of rest and gear checks with your guides.
Day 3: Acclimatization Hike to the Ridge of Petrovsky Peak (4000 m)
After breakfast, you will undertake an acclimatization hike to the ridge of Petrovsky Peak, reaching an elevation of approximately 4000 meters. The trail winds through alpine meadows and rocky slopes, offering stunning views of the sweeping Alay Valley and the remote Achik-Tash basin below. After enjoying the panoramic vistas, return to base camp for lunch. The afternoon is reserved for rest and preparation for the move to Camp 1.
Day 4: Trek to Camp 1 (4400 m)
After breakfast, you will begin your trek to Camp 1. If desired, heavy gear can be transported by horses (additional fee). The first stage of the hike leads to “Lukovaya Polyana” (Onion Meadow), a scenic spot surrounded by rolling hills, which can be reached by vehicle if preferred. From there, the trail ascends through the “Traveler’s Pass” and along the moraine beside the Lenin Glacier’s right ridge. This section takes approximately 4-5 hours. Before reaching Camp 1, you must cross a glacial stream, adding a touch of adventure to the journey. Camp 1 is situated on a wide moraine field, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
Day 5: Ascent to Yukhina Peak (5100 m) or Domashny Peak (4700 m)
After breakfast, you have the option to summit Yukhina Peak (5100 m) or Domashny Peak (4700 m) for further acclimatization. These climbs do not require technical mountaineering gear, making them ideal preparation for higher elevations. Return to Camp 1 for the night.
Day 6: Glacier Training — Preparation for Higher Camps
Morning glacier training session. You will review essential skills such as glacier travel, rope team techniques, fixed line ascent and descent, and crevasse rescue. This is a critical part of your preparation for the higher, more technical stages of the expedition. In the afternoon, finalize your gear for the move to Camp 2 (5300 m).
Day 7: Trek to Camp 2 (5300 m)
Depart from Camp 1 an hour before sunrise to avoid the midday heat and slushy snow. After crossing the moraine, you will approach the steep northern slope. Ropes and crampons become necessary as you ascend the steep glacier, navigating around crevasses and ice formations. The final stretch crosses the expansive ice plateau known as the “Pan” (Skovorodka), leading to Camp 2 at the base of the northwest ridge. This challenging section typically takes 7-9 hours. Overnight in tents at Camp 2, with meals prepared independently.
Day 8: Ascent of Razdelnaya Peak (6148 m)
Begin the climb at 9:00 a.m., moving in roped teams with crampons for safety. The route leads up a steep section before reaching the more moderate northwest ridge. From here, the final approach to the summit of Razdelnaya Peak (6148 m) provides breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and vast glaciers. After reaching the summit, descend to Camp 3 for the night. The trek from Camp 2 to Camp 3 typically takes 4-6 hours. Overnight in tents with independent meal preparation.
Day 9: Descent to Base Camp (3600 m)
Start your descent early from Camp 3 to Camp 1, moving cautiously through glaciated terrain. After a lunch break at Camp 1, continue your descent to Base Camp for a well-deserved rest. Dinner at Base Camp.
Day 10: Reserve Day
A spare day for weather delays or additional acclimatization.
Day 11: Transfer to Osh — Hotel Accommodation
After breakfast, depart for Osh. The journey back offers one last chance to take in the rugged beauty of the Alay Valley, with its wide, wind-swept plains and dramatic mountain backdrops. Upon arrival in Osh, check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 12: Transfer to the Airport — Departure
Your driver will pick you up from the hotel at the scheduled time and transfer you to the airport for your flight home, marking the end of your expedition.
