Description
Day 1: Arrival in Osh – Transfer to Achik-Tash Base Camp (3600 m)
Upon arrival in Osh, you will be met by our representative for a transfer to the Achik-Tash Base Camp. The drive takes you through the stunning Alay Valley, where lush green meadows stretch beneath the towering snow-capped peaks of the Pamir Mountains. You’ll pass through remote mountain villages and alpine landscapes, catching glimpses of herds of yaks grazing on the windswept slopes. Upon arrival at the camp, the camp manager will assist you with accommodation and provide you with all the necessary information for the days ahead. You will also meet your mountain guides to discuss the detailed climbing plan and safety procedures.
Day 2: Acclimatization at Base Camp – Waterfall Hike
After breakfast, set out on an acclimatization hike to a nearby waterfall. The trail winds through alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers, with views of rugged granite cliffs and distant snowy peaks. This gentle hike is designed to help your body adjust to the altitude while soaking in the raw beauty of the surrounding mountains. Return to camp for lunch, followed by a relaxed afternoon checking your high-altitude gear with your guides.
Day 3: Acclimatization Hike to the Ridge of Petrovsky Peak (4000 m)
After breakfast, embark on an acclimatization hike to the ridge of Petrovsky Peak. The trail climbs steadily through rocky terrain, crossing patches of snow and alpine grass before reaching the exposed ridge at around 4000 meters. From here, breathtaking views unfold over the vast Alay Valley and the remote Achik-Tash basin, framed by jagged, glacier-covered peaks. Return to Base Camp for lunch. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the move to Camp 1.
Day 4: Trek to Camp 1 (4400 m)
After breakfast, start the trek to Camp 1. If desired, heavy gear can be transported by horses for an additional fee. The first section leads to “Lukovaya Polyana” (Onion Meadow), about a one-hour walk or a short drive. From here, follow a well-established trail through the Traveler’s Pass and along the moraine ridge beside the mighty Lenin Glacier. This section takes approximately 4-5 hours, including a careful river crossing just before reaching Camp 1, which is set on a broad moraine with dramatic views of the surrounding ice-covered peaks.
Day 5: Ascent to Yukhina Peak (5100 m) or Domashny Peak (4700 m)
After breakfast, attempt a non-technical ascent of either Yukhina Peak (5100 m) or Domashny Peak (4700 m). These summits offer spectacular 360-degree views, including the towering northern face of Peak Lenin and the sweeping Alay Valley below. Return to Camp 1 for the night.
Day 6: Glacier Training – Preparation for Higher Camps
In the morning, participate in glacier training to refresh essential skills like rope travel, crevasse rescue, fixed line climbing, and self-arrest techniques. This training is critical for the more technical stages ahead. In the afternoon, organize and pack your gear for the move to Camp 2 (5300 m).
Day 7: Trek to Camp 2 (5300 m)
Depart from Camp 1 about an hour before sunrise to avoid the midday heat and slushy snow. After crossing the moraine, begin the ascent up the steep northern slope. Ropes and crampons are required as you navigate around deep crevasses and towering ice formations. The final section crosses the expansive ice plateau known as the “Pan” (Skovorodka), leading to Camp 2, located on the surface moraine at the base of the northwest ridge at 5300 m. This challenging day typically takes 7-9 hours. Overnight in tents, with meals prepared independently.
Day 8: Trek to Camp 3 (6100 m)
Depart Camp 2 around 9:00 a.m. The route initially climbs a steep slope before reaching the broad northwest ridge of Peak Lenin. Continue along the ridge, with stunning views of endless ice fields and towering peaks, until you reach the spacious dome of Camp 3 at 6100 m. This section typically takes 4-6 hours. Overnight in tents, with independent meal preparation.
Day 9: Descent to Base Camp (3600 m)
Begin your descent early in the morning from Camp 3 to Camp 1, moving cautiously through glaciated terrain. Have lunch at Camp 1, then continue down to Base Camp, where a well-deserved hot shower and hearty dinner await.
Day 10-11: Rest and Preparation Days
Spend these days at Base Camp, resting, recovering, and preparing for your summit push. Use this time to organize your gear and mentally prepare for the final ascent.
Day 12: Trek to Camp 1 (4400 m)
After breakfast, make your way back to Camp 1. With your body now well-acclimatized, this section will feel significantly easier. Overnight in tents.
Day 13: Trek to Camp 2 (5300 m)
Depart early, around 4:00 a.m., for the challenging ascent to Camp 2. With your previous acclimatization, this section should be less taxing. Overnight in tents, with independent meal preparation.
Day 14: Trek to Camp 3 (6100 m)
Depart at 9:00 a.m., climbing the steep slope out of Camp 2 to the northwest ridge. This section, although demanding, will be more manageable with your improved acclimatization. Overnight at Camp 3.
Day 15: Summit Push to Peak Lenin (7134 m) and Return to Camp 3
Start before sunrise. After descending to the saddle, tackle the final steep slope leading to the broad west ridge. Keep left along the ridge, overcoming the infamous “Knife” (an 80 m, 45-degree ice wall) before crossing the expansive “Parachutist Plateau.” The final stretch involves navigating a series of rocky hills, where poor visibility can make route-finding challenging. At the summit, you will find a small bust of Lenin, marking the highest point. Return to Camp 3 for the night.
Day 16-17: Descent to Base Camp (3600 m)
Make your way back to Base Camp, celebrating your successful summit with your team. Overnight in tents, followed by a small ceremony to commemorate your achievement.
Day 18: Reserve Day
A spare day in case of bad weather or other delays.
Day 19: Transfer to Osh
After breakfast, transfer back to Osh. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Day 20: Transfer to the Airport – Departure
